Lots of Doctor Who actors have gone on to be big Hollywood stars later in their careers, but there's only one (to date) who's gone on to win an Oscar.

That lucky individual is Olivia Colman - who took home a statue in 2019 for her role in The Favourite - who appears in The Eleventh Hour as one of Prisoner Zero's disguises (the lady in the hospital holding the hands of the two young girls).

Though she doesn't have much screen time in the episode, she was apparently a lot of fun to work with. According to director Adam Smith, Colman and Matt Smith did a ton of improvising during their scenes, which would often lead to Colman swearing, something that she was "amazing" at.

But since this is a family show and no cuss words are allowed, none of this improv made it into the episode, though certain reaction shots - of Smith reacting to Colman's bad language - can actually be seen in the final cut.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
