Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Ninth Doctor

16. He Smashed Every Mirror Inside The TARDIS

Steven Moffat's novelisation of The Day Of The Doctor is packed full of extra details that the episode couldn't accommodate, including some information on what the Ninth Doctor did shortly after regenerating from the War Doctor.

Apparently, he smashed every single mirror inside the TARDIS because he was ashamed of his destructive actions during the Time War, so much so that he never wanted to see his own face. Bye bye mirrors!

Of course, us viewers know that the Doctor actually saved Gallifrey rather than blowing it to hell, but the Ninth Doctor isn't aware of that fact.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
