Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Tenth Doctor

19. He Struggled To Pronounce The Ninth Doctor's Catchphrase

Catchphrases are a very important part of Doctor Who.

"Geronimo!"

"Allons-y!"

"Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!”

Where would the show be without lines like these?

So imagine Ten's disappointment when he discovered that he could no longer say one of his old lines.

In a deleted scene from The Christmas Invasion, Ten attempts to say Nine's catchphrase of "Fantastic". However, those syllables "Don't fit the teeth" anymore and he can't say it.

Interestingly, when the Doctor is searching for a new phrase to say, he drops "Molto Bene", which would come up a number of times across Ten's tenure, and "Brilliant", which would become Thirteen's catchphrase.

See, it's all connected... or this was just a giant fluke.

Yeah, it was probably that one.
