Though only getting one full story and a 7 minute return for the 50th anniversary, Paul McGann's incarnation remains popular and a joy. Fandom may be divided over the half-human reveal or that kiss but few dispute what a fine Doctor McGann makes. Producer Peter Segal may have fashioned a nostalgic, greatest hits package Time Lord but McGann imbues him with charm and spark and cheek. Who can forget the simple joy he expresses over his new shoes? Though off our screens, this Doctor has thrived on audio for Big Finish for over a decade. Many of his plays with Sheridan Smith's Lucie Miller were broadcast on BBC7 and Moffat made these audio tales canon in The Night of the Doctor. McGann's cameo in 2013 showed that there is still an appetite for this Doctor. Surely a team up with Capaldi beckons?
