Doctor Who: 30 NuWho Characters Who Would've Made Fantastic Full-Time Companions
12. Lynda Moss
Appeared in: Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways.
Honestly Doctor. Sweet little Lynda could've won the prize of her life - quite literally - on garden-less Big Brother having got to the final two. But then you had to convince her that sweet just didn't cut it in 200,100. He had a point: it's a minor miracle how Lynda managed to keep her sweetness in that charnel house of a world.
But in amongst the disintegrating game shows, there's joy to be had from Joe Joyner's performance as Lynda. Her complete skippy innocence is comforting, especially when she shares those sweetly awkward moments with the Doctor. Right, think we've covered enough grammatical terms for "sweet".
Nevertheless, beneath all the sweetness - sorry, just one more - Lynda has a steeliness that makes her such a well-rounded character. It's one of the most heartbreaking moments of the show when, having been reassured by the Doctor that she's safe from the Daleks, she turns around towards the observation window to see those evil pepperpots tortuously rising up, followed by a horrible scream and an anguished look on the Doctor's face.
Sadly, the closest Lynda got to the TARDIS was a longing look at the blue box, looking forward to adventures in space and time.
