3. The Doctor Is 'The Oncoming Storm,' Not 'The Teenager Having A Tantrum'
In "The Time Of Angels" (You know, that one where the Weeping Angels as a species got really confusing) Smith had a rant. It wasn't a long rant, and it went along the lines of "If you value your continued existence, there is something you never put in a trap. Me" When Tennant or Eccleston got angry, you knew all about it. When Martha, or Rose, or Donna had been captured, or injured, the fierce wrath of the Last of the Time Lords came bursting out in a glorious display. In "The Idiot's Lantern" when Rose's face had been sucked off, Tennant exploded. It wasn't showy, but it was white hot rage. It was there, everyone could see it, and everyone feared it. Smith's rage is too obscured by his quirky good nature, and his confused puppy antics. Rage and anger doesn't suit him. Hopefully Capaldi will ease up on the goof and allow the anger to shine through. Fingers crossed, anyway.
