Doctor Who: 5 More Potential Masters For Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor

1. Alan Rickman

The answer is Alan Rickman. Despite being 67, older than Bill Nighy, Rickman can play, in my eyes, the perfect villain. His portrayal of both Severus Snape over the Harry Potter series, who has an unwilling yet profound respect of his enemies, and the villainous and callous Hans Gruber in Die Hard, makes him seem almost the perfect man to take over the title of the greatest villain in one of the most well-known TV shows. He would undoubtedly love to play such a character, able to draw on every ounce of charisma, trickery, energy and cruelty to give one of the most chilling, enjoyed and pronounceable versions of the character, perhaps going back to the days of Roger Delgado. Although having the same problem or drawbacks as Bill Nighy would in the role, Rickman would be able to overcome that. Throughout Die Hard we see the side of him born for breaking the law, and in Harry Potter he shows his ability to know the enemy - something which The Master and the Doctor have in common. Having acted for over four decades, and played numerous characters throughout his career, Alan Rickman is in my opinion the perfect choice for The Master - I would love to see his reaction when he regenerates, just like John Simm in Utopia, way back in 2007. What do the people of the Internet make of my suggestions? Do you agree with the choices of actor, or why they should be chosen? Drop a comment below, and share your thoughts.

Me? I'm 17 years old, from Dawlish, Devon and studying (tirelessly) at Exeter College. I love pretty much anything, am a fan of numerous TV programmes and films, countless books and topics, from Sherlock to the Cold War, Doctor Who to Muse and my ambition is to become a journalist in any field which I have an interest in, and I hope to show my opinions (although varied) to the full.
