3. Rassilon

As several Doctor Who serials have told us, there is another important figure in Time Lord History; Rassilon, the original ruler of the Time Lords who, according to differing sources, was either a wise and beloved leader or a ruthless tyrant. Although much has been made of the character in other media, Rassilon has only been a major presence in two TV stories. In The Five Doctors, several incarnations of the Doctor journeyed to the Dark Tower on Gallifrey, Rassilon€™s resting place, to stop President Borusa€™s plan to steal the secret of immortality. His first full appearance in the show came in 2010€™s The End of Time when it was revealed he was the President during the Last Great Time War which wiped the Time Lords out of existence. Here, Rassilon is definitely a tyrant, determined to do anything he can to win the war. And, as you can see, he€™s played by one-time James Bond, Timothy Dalton!
