Doctor Who: 5 Places The Doctor Should Go Next (On Earth)
4. Imperial Russia
As long as Doctor Who doesn't go nuts with saying the Anastasia lived (because let's face it, that idea has been driven into the ground!), this would be an interesting episode. There is so much to play with here and Doctor Who hasn't even been to Russia. Period. However, because of all of the issues at the time, the historical accuracy of the episode would have to be massively played with to make it child friendly. Rasputin wasn't exactly known for his long beard and magical powers. The royal family might be interesting to look at, however. This would be an interesting episode if it was done right. There is so much that is iffy about this idea, though. Again, the Anastasia idea has been done so much that it would have to seriously be refurbished for Doctor Who to attempt it. Even though there is too much that is iffy about this time period, the description and beauty - ignoring many of the political and human rights issues going on - of the time period make it worth the Doctor Who writers looking at. Just read anything by Tolstoy.
