Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Missy Should Become A Recurring Villain

1. It Would Provide A Strong Adversary For The Doctor

Of course, the key aspect of the Master is that the character is basically Moriarty to the Doctor€™s Sherlock Holmes, to use a rather tired cliché. The point still stands, however, that the Master is at his/her best when battling the Doctor and when the key relationship of an episode is the opposition between the two. After all, Simm wouldn€™t have been as engaging if not opposed to Tennant€™s Doctor, nor would Michelle Gomez have been as brilliant without being able to bounce off Capaldi€™s Twelve. Outside of having two brilliant actors going up against each other, there are other benefits to the adversarial nature of the Doctor and the Master€™s relationship, too. Every battle and every story becomes deeply personal due to the shared childhood of the two characters and the amount of destruction the Master has caused to the people and planets that the Doctor vowed to protect. If the Master was to become a recurring character there would be some electrifying episodes exploring this personal relationship and the dynamic between these two opponents who can€™t bring themselves to get rid of the other for good. There would also be more fantastic battles between the two, which wouldn€™t hurt in making for engaging stories. Furthermore, the return of Missy would help to develop the Doctor€™s character in opposition, which would help the viewers to get to know whichever incarnation of the Doctor was active at the time - likely to be Twelve at the moment - further. This would be even more interesting as the Master has a tendency to put the Doctor in pressurised situations with no good way out so the fans would get to see how the Doctor would react to those. Do you think the Master should return as a recurring villain? Are there other reasons you want/don't want to see the character return? Let us know in the comments.
