Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why Jack Harkness Might Not Return

3. Jack Is Running Torchwood

Torchwood Jack is successfully running Torchwood Caerdydd (Cardiff) at this point. There are references to The Doctor, and Martha features in at least two episodes, but Jack cannot possibly rejoin the TARDIS crew - he has his hands full with alien activity on earth. Not to mention having his hands full of Ianto. Personally I prefer Owen, but then I'm not Jack. There is also Myfanwy the Pterodon and Janet the Weevil to care for. Not only that, but Gwen brings her husband Rhys into the equation and Owen gets shot and becomes a Zombie. Okay, not running it so successfully after all, but Captain John Hart (James Marsters) turns up and provides some entertainment anyway. Oh, and let's not forget that Zombie Owen becomes King Of The Weevils. When you're running an empire such as The Torchwood Institute, you are far too busy identifying strange meat, killing Weevils, trapping sexually promiscuous aliens that invade the body of an unfortunate human host and discovering that "Adam" doesn't really exist. Perhaps you may still dream of it, but you won't be travelling in (or hanging on to) The TARDIS any time soon. Let's also not forget Blowfish in sports cars, and little old ladies cursing Torchwood.
