Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why Jack Harkness Might Not Return

1. Jack Became Too Big For The Whoniverse

Doctor Who Jack Harkness Jack has been a wonderful, funny, endearing character for Doctor Who and Torchwood fans of all ages. However, by dint of John Barrowman's own personality and his passion for the role of Jack Harkness, I feel that he was eclipsing both Doctor Who and Torchwood. Miracle Day was the killer - so awful and such an insult to all of the cast - but it served to tell us all that Jack has gone for good. We shall possibly meet The Face Of Boe again some time in the future, but not Jack himself. Okay, so The Face Of Boe is Jack, but I am fairly certain that we shall not be seeing John Barrowman in Doctor Who again. To say that he will be missed would be an understatement of epic proportions, and I had hoped to see him return just one more time for the 50th anniversary - but it wasn't to be. Neither Doctor Who nor Torchwood were big enough to be able to contain Jack - he is such a big personality who would eventually clash with the equally large personality of The Doctor. I genuinely believe that Eleven and Jack would detest each other, given the fondness of both for theatrics and absolute attention. Thank you for the wonderful episodes, the laughs and even the tears John; we love you.
