Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why Peter Capaldi Will Be Brilliant As The 12th Doctor

3. He's A Big Fan Of The Show

As we've seen with David Tennant, Doctor Who fans make great Doctors. They bring a sense of passion to their performance, and there's this almost palpable giddiness that they're finally being allowed to do what they've dreamed of for so many years. As fellow fans, it's fun to watch them be just as excited as we are during their experiences on the show. And Capaldi is a noted Doctor Who fan, who's admitted (on television, no less) that he's loved the show since he was a kid. He's even close friends with Craig Ferguson, one of the biggest celebrity Whovians around. I would go so far as to say that I would be in favor of casting Peter Capaldi just for the future interviews with Ferguson alone. But more than that, these guys tend to be great ambassadors for the show, which is something huge when it comes to Doctor Who. You don't just stop being associated with the show once you've left -- you're with it for life.
