3. Have A Romantic Partner
http://youtu.be/veI1_9rulGY The Doctor wants to be your one true thing, The Center of Your Ever-Expanding Universe. How could anyone possibly measure up to what he has to offer? Besides, he's usually not very good at romance himself - even with Rose Tyler he had trouble verbalising his love - so to have companions jump at the chance to be happy outside the TARDIS? Well, it's time for a sulk. Viewers saw it throughout Classic Who when companions left the show and when Jo decided to marry scientist and professor Clifford Jones in The Green Death, the Third Doctor slunk off into the night. Previously in the serial, he acted petulant and childish every time Jo demonstrated any independence. More recently, fans saw the Twelfth Doctor become annoyed when Clara tried to prioritise her relationship with Danny, and remember how his ninth incarnation repeatedly referred to Rose's boyfriend as "Mickey the Idiot"? The Doctor wants you to be happy, of course, but that doesn't mean he's above feeling jealous - he wants to be the most impressive thing in his companions' lives.
