Doctor Who: 5 Things We Might Expect From Peter Capaldi As The 12th Doctor?

3. A Father Figure To Clara

Clara Clara is unique for two reasons. She is one of the few companions to witness the transformation from one Doctor to another. And secondly she had experienced every moment of his life from the day the First Doctor and Susan stole the Tardis from Gallifrey, to the final showdown with the Great Intelligence at Trenzalore. And yet despite all that knowledge and experience I would imagine that the €˜impossible girl€™s€™ relationship will be very different to that she shared with the Eleventh. Their relationship in series 7 was mix of flirtation and intrigue, something that I can€™t see happening with the twelfth Doctor. For a start, all that mystery is now resolved. Secondly I would be massively surprised if they continued their flirtation. On a side note, I€™m also interested to see how River Song will play off the new Doctor. For the first time the actress Alex Kingston will be younger (by five years). How and will their love affair, beautifully played out between Kingston and Smith, continue into the Eighth Doctor€™s era? I can see a more mature Clara, guided by the Doctor rather than guiding him. The age difference between Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman alone with make for a different dynamic. I would like something akin the First Doctor and Susan. Both had a wealth of knowledge from their Gallifreyan routes but she was still counselled and led by her grandfather. Clara will have so much experience too. How that will define her character, and her relationship with the Twelfth Doctor, only time will tell.
