2. Very Dry Humour
I have no doubt that with Peter Capaldis interpretation and Steven Moffats scripting, the show will retain its mix of humour and the dramatic. But were going to see a very different take with the Twelfth. For a start, I cant imagine were going to witness the same bumbling, elastic performance we witnessed with the Eleventh. Rather than the comedy being physical, I can imagine Capaldis Doctors humour to be all in the delivery. Going back to his brilliant role as Malcolm Tucker. His use of language (profanity and sarcasm) is hilarious. Of course, were not going to see a foul-mouthed Doctor this is a family show after all and two hours pre-watershed, but I can some of that delivery being incorporated into his role as the Doctor. With a quick wit and a dash of sarcasm, I can see Capaldis Doctor scathing his enemies with his voice and also making light of the his friends and associates, very much like the Third Doctor. I can also see his use of humour to be filled with intelligence and foresight, quite different to the equal shared genius that all the previous Doctors shared. And I am sure Moffat will be up the challenge on that front. Lets hope other writers can follow suit.
