Doctor Who: 5 Ways Big Finish Enhances The Sixth Doctor
2. It Allows Colin Baker To Show What He Can Do
As mentioned before, it’s undeniable that someone who loves what they do will bring their absolute best to it, which is exactly what Colin does. This is arguably as a result of the previous two entries, that Colin is made more likeable in the scripts he is given, making The Sixth Doctor a stronger character.
Colin is a tremendous actor, and he really could have shone back during his time on TV, given time and care behind the scenes. Thankfully Big Finish give him his chance to shine and show off his full range as an actor, rather than be stuck as a flat, one-dimensional character. Through the storylines at Big Finish, The Sixth Doctor has shown off his intelligence (in a less arrogant way), compassion, anger, as well as dealing with sadness and regret. The latter of those qualities did start to show back in 1986 when The Doctor loses Peri, however this is truly exploited at Big Finish, with regards to dealing with the loss of other characters.
