Doctor Who: 5 Worst And 5 Best Dalek Stories

3. €œThe Stolen Earth€/€œJourney€™s End€

stolen_earth_gang I really wanted to like this story, but ugh. Oddly, most of the real badness has nothing to do with the Daleks, or even Davros. In fact they were reasonably well-used, though the idea of a bomb that destroys every single reality unless stopped is, in fact, unstoppable, if you think about it for a moment. The real problems here are many. There€™s the €œhave your cake and eat it, too€ resolution to the Rose/Doctor love arc, which I always despised. There€™s all the new series companions and ancillary characters appearing in the same story. There€™s the fact that the Daleks and Davros are once again defeated forever and ever and ever again. But worst of all is the mental erasure (some would say mind rape, and while I don€™t agree, I can see where they are coming from), of Donna, taking the best new series companion at the time and completely undoing all her character development. In many ways this story really is exactly what one has come to expect of the Davies era of Who, and it€™s basically just fanservice from start to finish.
