Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: 7 Things That NEED To Happen

4. Recognize What We Are In The Process Of Losing

Look, there's no way to sugar coat this. In the last year and a bit we've lost Nicholas Courtney, Elisabeth Sladen, Mary Tamm and Caroline John. Not to Mention Barry Letts, Phillip Madoc and many others. The price of having a beloved show reach its 50 year anniversary is knowing that you are on the cusp of losing everyone involved in the first 26 years of production. For all our lives we've been comfortable in the knowledge that they would be around at conventions to tell stories and answer questions. They will not. One of the most commendable moments of Season Six (new dating) was the moment when the loss of the Brigadier was acknowledged. And more than that, when it mattered. When the fact of his loss and what it meant truly impacted the course of the story. For the 50th Anniversary story to matter, it needs to acknowledge all of those that came before. Especially now that they are starting to leave us.
