Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: 7 Things That NEED To Happen

3. Wrap Up All The Current Plot Threads

One thing that did not escape my attention in The Name of the Doctor (and I'm a fan of it, for the record) was the number of things that it did not answer. For example, Dorian's prediction about the fall of the 11th and a question that no one could fail to answer or answer falsely. In the episode itself we saw the aftermath of a battle, but not the battle itself. And it was more than hinted at that the Doctor had fought and died in that battle. Now, I'm reasonably sure that all that is Stephen Moffat positioning himself for the eventual death of Matt Smith's doctor. But really, for an anniversary to mean anything it needs to wrap up what has come before and begin something new. That's the deal. That's what we need. I suspect I'm wrong, but I really believe that they need to wrap up all the outstanding plot threads on this one, and I don't think that they're going to do so.
