Doctor Who: 6 Great Fifth Doctor Stories

1. Caves of Androzani (Story 135, 1984)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XComk-mwA0g And so it came to an end. Yes, once again, the last is the first, and I€™m not alone in thinking this. Over the last few years, this story has really grown in stature, and now appears at or near the top of most €œbest of€ lists when it comes to the series. This is right and proper. The episode features the Fifth Doctor sacrificing himself to save a relatively new companion, namely Peri (Nicola Bryant). That then leads into one of the more surreal and interesting regeneration sequences in the history of the show, with the Doctor hallucinating about his various companions while the Master screams, €œDie, Doctor! Die!€ It€™s also quite fitting that the Doctor€™s last word is €œAdric.€ The Fifth Doctor wasn€™t everyone€™s cup of tea. He wasn€™t as manic and charismatic as the Fourth, but who could be? He was, however, the Doctor we needed at the time and a truly great character with some excellent stories. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQfz48VJk1U
