Doctor Who 60th Anniversary: 10 Huge Rumours And Leaks You Need To Know

9. Bernard Cribbins Is Back As Wilf

Donna Noble's family was a big part of her original Doctor Who run, so it always seemed likely that, if she ever did return, then Wilf, Sylvia, and her husband Shaun would tag along with her.

And though these characters weren't part of the announcement that Catherine Tate will be back, on-set pictures have confirmed that the Noble clan is indeed along for whatever wild ride the DoctorDonna is going on in the 60th anniversary.

Sylvia and Shaun were spotted walking towards the TARDIS with the Doctor, while Wilf - now in a wheelchair - was seen being pushed by the Doctor down a busy street.

With Wilf being one of the most beloved companions in the show, it's particularly exciting to see him return. And with Cribbins' death meaning that the 60th anniversary is his final Doctor Who performance, we're intrigued to see how RTD caps off the character's journey.

There's going to be a lot of sniffles in the audience when his final scene plays out.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
