1. Shes Susan
In Claras first trip in the TARDIS, the Doctor takes her to the planet Akhaten, for the Festival of Offerings. He hasnt been there in years. He last went there with his granddaughter. This was, at the time, only direct reference to Susan in the revival series we can now chalk it up to two with her cameo-from-the-back in the Name of the Doctor. The fandoms ears perked up. The God of the story was termed Grandfather Susans affectation for the First Doctor, and he was vaguely implied to be a dark reflection of the Doctor. An Old God who feeds on stories and inspires worship and a Lonely God figure who inspires stories of fear and worship is a parallel worth consideration. Claras preferred attire of dresses and tights were vaguely 1960s-inspired especially her outfit in the Name of the Doctor. The longevity and reappearances could be attributed to regeneration. She had no living family that we could see her mum is definitely dead, her fathers whereabouts were never cleared up. Perhaps the TARDIS didnt like her because she wasnt meant to have survived. Susan was originally left on earth in the future to fight Daleks and hook up with a dude called David, but many believe she would have been recalled to Gallifrey at the advent of the Time War. Either way, a Time Lady present in a universe where there are no others but the Doctor would probably rub the TARDIS the wrong way. Its doubtful this one is going to come true theyve been playing up the sexual tension between Clara and the Doctor way too much for a family series. But its a crying shame it isnt going to happen, considering the lack of links to the classic series in the upcoming 50th Anniversary. Plausibility: 8/10 (the references, the at-first paternal relationship that devolved into UST and Moffats supposed adoration for the Classic series) Popularity: 9/10 (despite the growing support for the Doctor and Clara getting it on, this was something the fans found truly fascinating.)
