Doctor Who: 7 Reasons Why The Twelfth Doctor Actually Sucks

3. He Just Doesn't Listen

A common theme of the Twelfth Doctor is that he is selfish. No matter if everyone else in the room is saying otherwise, he will still do whatever the hell he wants. That's fine if the consequence is just a minor annoyance and/or inconvenience, but not if it puts people in real harm, which it has on several occasions. When he didn't listen to Clara about returning to TARDIS because he was curious of the monster outside, for example, he didn't just risk his own life, but the lives of his companions, too. Clara and her descendant would have been trapped in the TARDIS forever. Every time he is forced to choose between his companions and his curiosity, his impulsiveness always leads him to curiosity. Why didn't he just return the kid to Earth when they were in danger on the moon? Because he was curious. Why did he bring Clara to a space express train even though he knew that they might be in danger if they go there? Because he was curious. Cast your mind back to Series 2's The Satan Pit, when the Tenth Doctor is debating whether or not to go into the pit. He couldn't decide if he wanted to go through with it, ultimately choosing that it just wasn't worth endangering everybody around him for the sake of his own curiosity. Two regenerations later and now he would go to whatever bottomless pit he wants, even when his companions plead him not to.
