Doctor Who: 8 Big Questions After Time Heist

4. Why Was Psi Interrogated In Prison? What Is His Past?

If Time Heist marks Psi's only appearance in Doctor Who, then this is one mystery that will never be solved. But as we've already touched upon his potential to reoccur in the show, let's take a closer look at that question. As likeable as he was, Time Heist suggested there was a darker history to his character, certainly if he is associated with some of the larger criminal elements in the galaxy ( more on that later). During his conversation with Clara, Psi discussed the reason he was missing the memories of his friends and family; he wiped them to protect their identities from his enemies. Locked up in a prison at some point prior to Karabraxos, Psi had obviously committed some crime. It may have been the reason that the future Doctor chose him for this mission. Was it a case of mistaken identity or something darker? If Psi makes another appearance on Doctor Who, his past might be something the show can delve into. Just as long as- as River Song's mystery proves - we don't we learn so much his mystery is ruined.
