Doctor Who: 8 Fixes For Series 13

7. Give Yaz The Spotlight

With Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole leaving the show after 'Revolution of the Daleks' at Christmas, as far as we know, only Mandip Gill's Yaz will be continuing with The Doctor into Series 13. Across her two series so far, Yaz hasn't had a massive amount of screen time. The first time anything regarding her life was present in an episode was Series 11's 'Demons of the Punjab', which focused on her heritage more than her as a character. Otherwise, she merely stands and gawps at The Doctor most of the time.

Series 12's 'Can You Hear Me?' gave Yaz's character a much needed depth, introducing a mental health spiral resulting in her almost running away, but being talked out of it by a police officer. Assumedly, this is why she decided to join the service in the first place. From there however, it was back to more gawping. Without the means of having to juggle three characters in the TARDIS alongside The Doctor, Yaz can be given more time to grow, and become a character we can genuinely resonate with, and actually begin to love.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
