Doctor Who: 8 Reasons A Female Master Isn't The End Of The World
4. Endless Possibilities
Just take a minute to think about what lies in store now that the Master is a woman. It looks like the writers are pretty eager to explore these uncharted waters, too, because she'll be back in Series 9 to wreak more havoc and generally get all up in the Doctor's grill - and you just know it's gonna be incredible. The most obvious narrative direction for their new relationship to take will tie in with the return of Gallifrey which has been on the cards since 2013. Missy lied to the Doctor about its location at the end of the last series so he'll definitely have a thing or two to say about that when he's reunited with her later this year. Why did she lie, though? Does she know something about the fate of their home planet that the Doctor doesn't, or was she just being vindictive? It's probably the latter but so much happened in the Series 8 finale that Steven Moffat is obviously relying on us to leave no stone unturned. The Doctor was about to kill Missy, too, so she probably won't be best pleased about that when she returns - especially as she'd just given him his very own Cyber army as a birthday present. A voucher would've sufficed, Missy, but did she mention... bananas? Series 9 just got very exciting.
