Doctor Who: 8 Reasons The Tenth Doctor Was An Actual Monster

5. He Would Let All Of Pompeii Die

The Tenth Doctor was one for showing off. He would always have a clever plan that he formulated to save everyone, but sometimes there are fixed moments where people can't be saved. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius was one of these moments. The Doctor knew this was a fixed point in time; he knew that this was one moment that could never change.

Despite ending the invasion of the Pyroviles and overthrowing their sinister plot to take over the world, the Doctor realises that he has to cause the eruption to save humanity. It's a devastating moment when he and Donna decide to destroy Pompeii to save the world. The Doctor is remorseful and knows he has to do it for the greater good, but it's what happens after that is unforgivable.

The family who helped them through the episode beg the Doctor for help, but he ignores them and runs to the TARDIS, leaving them to die. When Donna confronts him, he tells her that he can't change fixed points and everyone has to die. Donna refuses to accept that and breaks down. It's only then, that he returns to save the one family.

If it hadn't been for Donna, the Doctor would have turned his back on these people and condemned those who helped him to death.
