Doctor Who: 8 Reasons The Tenth Doctor Was An Actual Monster

4. The Way He Treated Martha Jones

Poor Martha Jones. She was a promising young doctor who found herself entangled with Ten when the hospital she worked in was transported to the moon! She proved her worth and travelled with him. By all rights, they should have had an amazing relationship.

The only problem was that Ten had just lost Rose in tragic circumstances. Martha was head-over-heels in love with him, but he just wanted to talk about his ex-companion. Awkward.

It got to a point where Martha felt undervalued and unseen, so this emotional abuse pushed her further. Martha did everything for the Doctor without question, no matter how dangerous.

The Doctor/companion dynamic even switched for most of her season so that she would save the Doctor, rather than him saving her. She was forced to play maid during an extremely racist time to avoid the Family go Blood. She went to the ends of the Earth (literally) for him during The Year That Never Was. She risked her life to travel the world and spread stories of the Doctor for an entire year while the Master's tyrannical rule threatened all mankind.

Martha was too good for Ten, and her exit was a triumph! She finally admitted that being with him was toxic for her, and she told him to his face. Following the conversation, Ten just flew off as if nothing had ever happened.
