Doctor Who: 8 Reasons To Hate Moffat More Than You Already Do

8. Sexism

In a recent interview with Moffat about his portrayal of female companions, Moffat set every Whovian reeling with anger as he described how he viewed women as needy and marriage-obsessed. There might be a lot of things wrong with that statement but the best way Moffat demonstrates his blatant and probably very old-school sexism is the way he uses female characters to merely further the Doctor€™s man-pain. Clara€™s €˜Impossible Girl€™ label, for example, meant that, Clara essentially lived for the purpose of helping the Doctor through history. Not like she had anything better to do, right? And it€™s not just the companions who suffer at The Moff€™s hand. With his The Girl in the Fireplace debacle, the Doctor leaves behind Mickey and Rose (yes, his beloved Rose!) to go and enjoy some mostly pointless hanky panky with Madame de Pompadour, just to make sure viewers know the Doctor is a sexy, demi-god horn dog. It€™s pretty clear that Moffat doesn€™t understand women and it€™s even clearer that he doesn€™t understand how real people work, let alone the complexities of a 2,000 year old alien from outer space.
