"Clara is gone and will never return. I can only say that what will happen will shock, surprise and terrify. Strictly in that order." These were Moffat's words earlier this month and her demise in Face The Raven certainly lived up to it. Her end was certainly unexpected, particularly as a big character departure is usually reserved for a series finale. Now we know for certain that Jenna Coleman will not be in Heaven Sent but will we see her one more time if Hell Bent? There will be a temptation for the Doctor to undo the events of this episode, take back her soul or at least give her a happy ending. As nice as that would be for Clara it would be much better if this was it. Clara's loss is going to have a huge effect next week and to have meaning her absence should be noticeable in the finale. And after all, her demise in Face The Raven if unspoilt (i.e. Rose in series four) is sure to go down as one of the best companion departures in the show's history.
