8. Terror of the Autons (Story 055, 1971)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaJmRzCOZHI Ok, Ive never been that into the Autons as villains. Theyre ok and all, but theres nothing all that impressive about them. But this episode makes this list for two reasons. First, it introduces the Doctors new companion, Jo Grant (Katy Manning), and second, and perhaps most importantly, it introduces the Doctors best enemy, the Master (Roger Delgado). Now this story does have a lot of weirdness to it. Seeing people killed by poison daffodils and watching a man being smothered by a living plastic chair is only slightly less stupidly hilarious than seeing Mickey getting swallowed by a garbage bin in Rose. Despite that weirdness, this remains a great episode because of the Master and Jo and all that they mean to the series as a whole.
