Doctor Who: 9 Greatest Stories Not Yet Adapted

1. Sherlock Holmes and The Doctor

Before I begin, let me make note that there was an instance in the Doctor Who novels when the seventh Doctor teamed up with Sherlock to solve a mystery, but it has not been done for television yet (for some unknown reason.) But picture it! There are so many possibilities for a Sherlock Holmes story. Matt Smith's Doctor is gallivanting around the late 1800's looking for trouble and he runs into Sherlock Holmes. Or, perhaps more correctly, he runs into Sir Arthur Conan Doyle... maybe the Doctor's sleuthing and curious manner would inspire the writer to create a detective with uncanny observational skills and a level-headed assistant (or companion, if you will.) Or maybe Doyle's interest in fairies and the spiritual world stemmed from an encounter with a certain Timelord! Of course there's also the push for Moffat to bring together his two major pieces of work right now- Doctor Who and Sherlock, and do a cross over special with Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch. This would imply a universe different from our own obviously, one in which Arthur Conan Doyle never wrote his books but this man, Sherlock, along with Dr John Watson, his police brother Mycroft, and the obnoxious Moriarty are all real people in today's world. But all in all, there are just so many options, how can they not do a Sherlock episode of Doctor Who? What do you think of this list? Which of these episodes would you most look forward to? Let us know in the comments!
