Doctor Who: 9 Major Questions From The Series 9 Trailer

1. Who Is Maisie Williams Playing?

Purposefully left until the very end of the trailer, right when you think there€™s nothing left to come after the date has been announced, was the appearance of Maisie Williams€™ character.

She removes her helmet and goggles, leading to a shocked look on the face of The Doctor as he exclaims: €œYou?!€

She responds: €œWhat took you so long old man?€ Out of everything in this trailer, it is this moment, and her character specifically, that is going to the subject of a huge amount of speculation until her episode finally airs (and maybe even after then, knowing what Moffat€™s like).

So who could she be? Is she Susan, granddaughter of The Doctor and the very first companion? Is she Jenny, The Doctor€™s €˜daughter€™? Romana, a Time-Lady and former companion of The Doctor? A new iteration of River Song? A Game of Thrones/Doctor Who crossover episode, with Capaldi as the Many-Faced God? This is Doctor Who, so they€™re all equally likeable and implausible at the same time (er, except maybe the GoT one...).

She could even just be a new character, one that The Doctor meets in earlier in the episode (or the first part of a two-parter), and The Doctor is shocked to see her return. It€™s entirely possible, even if it would be the worst kind of rug-pulling trailer bait imaginable. You can view the trailer below, so can see for yourself what to make of it all...
