Doctor Who: 9 Most Overrated Episodes Of The Revived Series

4. Death in Heaven

Why it's beloved? There is an army of the most powerful Cybermen ever. Michelle Gomez is amazing as a female Master. Peter Capaldi gave his best scene as the Doctor yet, when he found out that the Master lied to him. The goodbye between Clara and the Doctor is so sad that kids shouldn't be allowed to see it. And the Brigadier, man. The Brigadier. Why it's overrated? Death in Heaven has a lot of great ideas but they just aren't executed very well. The ones that do come to anything are just bad aftertastes. Here are the most powerful Cybermen ever assembled, yet most of the time they just stand around or hangout in a cemetery. The only thing they did was attack an aeroplane and the only reason that scene has an illusion of threat is because no one thought of retreating to the TARDIS in the next room while it was ll happening. Otherwise, the Cybermen are just background. In fact, a lot of questionable logic happens throught the entire episode. Why did UNIT put the Doctor unconscious, fully knowing that, in times of an emergency such as this, he is the one to be counted on the most? If UNIT has tranquilizers that work on Time Lords, why didn't they just use it on the Master in moments she isn't being questioned? They know how dangerous she is, after all. And who's idea was it anyway to park the TARDIS just right next her? When Missy is trying to escape, why aren't the guards behind her doing anything? Why did the Master even put the Doctor and Clara together in the first place? It's a mystery that's been built up since Series 7 so it must be because of a grand evil plan or something epic, right? Wrong! She just felt like doing it. But seriously... why? Questions, questions. Throughout the whole of Series 8, the Doctor questions if he is a good man. Given that Death in Heaven is the series finale, it finally answers that question. But what was the answer, exactly? Fans already know that he's "a mad man with a box", but what does that even mean? It's as if the Doctor just avoided the question but the episode still pretends it's a huge revelation.
