8. He Is Well Versed in Seamlessly Merging Historical With The Fantastical
In King Kong, Peter Jackson manages to make us believe a giant ape is wandering through 1930s New York. The most striking thing about these scenes is the attention to detail in the portrayal of a city from the past, even more so than the digitally created monster that stumbles through it. A detail-oriented approach is perfect for "Who" where a fan is sure to spot the tiniest bit of anything out of place in each episode. It can be argued that even Lord of the Rings is a historical construct in the sense that its a world where modern technology has not yet appeared there is no electricity, horses are the main mode of transportation. Yet much like the Who universe, fantastic elements weave seamlessly through this time and the denizens of the era grapple to understand them. Gandalf is a kind of Doctor-ish figure who lends his help but his ultimate goal, as is the Doctors, is to lead the other characters into finding strength within themselves.
