6. She Was More Than A Damsel In Distress

Doctor Who Satan Pit All companions play the damsel once in a while. What's important is whether they just accept the role, or if they fight it. Rose didn't accept it, choosing instead to get herself at least halfway out of most messes, so that the Doctor would often only partly save her. When separated from the Doctor, she didn't become helpless: she fought back against whatever was attacking her this week, and she never just waited around for the Doctor if there was any choice involved. In the Satan Pit, the Doctor said refused to accept that Rose was just a victim. This ordinary human girl, and he put her on a level equal with the gods themselves. To him, she would always be an actor in the drama, not just a victim or a damsel.
