Doctor Who: All Chris Chibnall Episodes Ranked From Worst To Best

8. The Power Of Three

There is an awful lot to like about this episode, one of the last to feature Amy Pond and Rory. The idea of having an alien invasion that occurs slowly over a period of time is a ripper, especially as The Doctor's companions are far more adept at the waiting process than he is.

Watching Amy and Rory live a relatively normal life in which the Doctor has to adjust to is a great premise, and a beautiful reversal of roles. There is also a great supporting cast, with the superb introduction of Jemma Redgrave as the granddaughter of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, who is now in charge of UNIT, while Brian Williams provides great comic relief as Rory's Dad.

Without wanting to sound like a broken record, it has to be said that this engaging story is largely undone by a poor final act. The usual Chibnall weaknesses are on show, the sonic screwdriver solving the problems far too easily, while the revelation of a villain who looks remarkably like Anakin Skywalker with his helmet off is extremely underwhelming. There is also a bizarre moment when millions of people who have just suffered a heart attack make a ridiculously quick recovery.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
