Doctor Who: Best Episode Of Every Series

1. Series 12: Fugitive Of The Judoon

Honourable Mention: The Haunting Of Villa Diodati

The latest series was certainly a mixed bag but in the middle of it was a simply unforgettable episode.

Seemingly normal human-being Ruth is the target of trigger-happy space police, the Judoon. But why? Who is she really?

The answer, quite unbelievably, is the Doctor. Yes Ruth, played superbly by Jo Martin, is a previously unseen version of the Doc, leaving Thirteen completely stunned. It’s a twist that had some of the fanbase up in arms, but boy was it well executed. Writers, Vinay Patel and Chris Chibnall, leaned heavily into story aspects from Series 3 and managed to pull off an exceptional reveal. Whittaker puts in one of her best performances to date as well, as her whole universe is turned upside down.

Even better than the twist, was the return of the one and only Captain Jack Harkness! Even though he was mainly used as an exposition dump, it was great to see John Barrowman back as everyone’s favourite rogue time agent.

In a time where Doctor Who has become incredibly polarising, it was nice for everyone to sit back and collectively enjoy an episode with so many fun reveals.
