Doctor Who Big Finish: Complete Dalek Universe Review
10. Buying Time
The Dalek Universe truly begins. And it is just magnificent.
The premise of the series is the Tenth Doctor is brought back to a pre-Time War universe, where he has no TARDIS, and is reacquainted with former allies Anya Kingdom and Mark Seven. Together, they go on the hunt for whatever has caused this and find a way to get the Doctor back to his correct time.
David Tennant has done a fair amount of Big Finish by this point, but this has to be his greatest performance to-date. He never misses a beat, and always steps back into the pinstriped suit and Converse as if he's never been away.
But the story's biggest talking point is the cliffhanger, and oh my word. I won't go into the details of that here, you can listen to that for yourselves. But this story was already magnificent enough before, but this solidifies that the Dalek Universe really is something big, new, dramatic and exciting!
John Dorney beautifully builds up the universe we find ourselves in for the next three boxsets and its glorious. And once again THAT cliffhanger!
