Doctor Who Cast: Where Are They Now?
9. Freema Agyeman - Martha Jones
Much like David Tennant before her, Freema Agyeman had big shoes to fill when replacing Rose Tyler as the Tenth Doctor's companion. Although she still gets some unnecessary hate from certain sections of the fandom, her reputation has rightly increased since the years that Martha left the TARDIS in Series 3.
Agyeman returned to Doctor Who in Series 4 for five episodes, including the two-part finale, and also featured in Torchwood's second series for three episodes. Her final appearance on television as Martha Jones was a brief cameo in The End of Time Part Two.
Agyeman's work since Doctor Who has almost exclusively been in television, including a starring role in the UK adaptation of popular American crime show Law and Order. She starred as Alesha Phillips, a junior CPS prosecutor. Other parts have included Larissa Loughlin, a magazine style editor in Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries and Amanita "Neets" Caplan in the cult favourite Netflix series Sense8.
Agyeman is currently starring as Dr. Helen Sharpe in the medical drama New Amsterdam for NBC.
