Doctor Who: Clara Oswald's 12 Greatest Moments

2. Oswin Oswald's Surprise Debut

One of the show's biggest surprises was the debut of Clara a whole six episodes early in Series Seven opener Asylum Of The Daleks. Only this wasn't exactly Clara, but Oswin, a variation of Clara fractured across time when she jumped into the Doctor's time-stream to save him. From her debut making souffles in the heart of the Dalek Asylum to helping the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory, destroying the asylum and wiping their memories of the Time Lord, she certainly made a huge impact on the show. In fact some fans have argued that this intelligent, witty version of Clara was the best version in the show and it is easy to see why fans were eager for her to join Doctor Who full time. But perhaps the biggest twist was that Oswin died in her very first appearance. The shocking reveal that she had already turned into a Dalek made for a thrilling climax to the episode and left audiences scratching their heads, wondering how Moffat would resolve this mystery.
