Doctor Who: Every 11th Doctor Episode Ranked Worse To Best

23. The Name Of The Doctor

The opening two minutes of this episode are thrilling as we see Clara travelling through the Doctor’s timeline and bumping into some of his previous regenerations. Despite some shaky CGI for some of the meetings, this actually nicely closes what many found an infuriating and unnecessary ‘Clara the mystery girl’ plot.

However, this episode’s title and the publicity around it suggested that we would finally find out the Doctor’s name. While this would have most likely being embarrassing and ruined the very rhetoric of the show’s name ‘Doctor Who?’, this felt like false advertising to say the least.

While Richard E. Grant’s return is welcome as he ramps up the villainy to 11, and there are some genuinely shocking moments such as Jenny’s apparent death (even if they bailed out), it feels like nothing more than a setup for The Day of the Doctor.
