Doctor Who: Every 11th Doctor Episode Ranked Worse To Best

15. The Snowmen

Doctor Who Matt Smith
BBC Studios

One reason why this might be one of the greatest 11th Doctor episodes is it features one of the best bits of camera trickery in the history of the show. As Clara goes inside the TARDIS for the first time, the camera follows her as she steps inside the small box which is revealed to be an impossibly big spaceship.

While this seamlessly slick revelation of the ‘bigger in the inside’ may have taken seven seasons to reach it truly works as it puts us in the companions shoes of how fantastically impossible the TARDIS is. However, this episode also boasts the sinister demon-like snowmen, a simply horrible idea, led by Richard E. Grant who is enjoying every minute as the sneering baddie.

This is also the first proper introduction of Clara as the fraudulent Governess who is a cockney through and through which allows us to see the many layers of her personality and Jenna Coleman's brilliant range. There is even an Ian McKellen cameo if you keep your eyes (or ears, actually) peeled...
