Doctor Who: Every 11th Doctor Episode Ranked Worse To Best

16. The Eleventh Hour

The Eleventh Hour was the biggest risk of Nu-Who since it was first brought back to our screens with 2005's Rose. With a new Doctor, a new showrunner and a new set of companions this was the biggest change up so far. So scared were the BBC that this new formula would fail they considered cancelling the whole show once they heard David Tennant would not return for another full season.

However, despite all this, The Eleventh Hour proved the previous five years of the hit show was not a fluke. While it seemed familiar with an eccentric Doctor running around with a companion in tow, instead of navigating the busy streets of London he was walking around the quiet village of Ledworth.

Tonally it felt fresh and paved a new era of Doctor Who history but the setting of sleepy Ledworth with seemingly a smattering of people did mean it lacked in stakes compared to previous seasons. And there was also the Atraxi, the particularly naff CGI alien eyeball.
