Doctor Who: Every Companion Ranked Worst To Best

8. Graham O'Brien

Doctor Who Companions
BBC

Sheffield's favourite bus driver, Graham O'Brien is the step-grandfather of Ryan Sinclair, having married Ryan's grandmother Grace after she was his nurse whilst he was undergoing treatment for cancer. Now in remission, Graham is struggling to bond with Ryan when the Doctor comes into their lives, whisking them both away to key moments in Earth's history, alien planets and a space-Amazon warehouse. Throughout their travels, Ryan begins to warm to Graham, and after having spent a lot of time together whilst aboard the TARDIS, finally gives Graham the thing that he wanted the most: the name "Granddad"

With a brilliant sense of humour and the driest wit around, the chemistry that Graham has with the Doctor and his fellow companions is what makes him a brilliant companion, always poised and ready for a sarcastic quip. As the oldest of the Doctor's companions (of the revived series), Graham is more experienced and level-headed than most of the other people that the Doctor has taken aboard the TARDIS, and his eagerness to help the Doctor, Ryan and Yaz always shows.

Here's to more of Graham in Series 12.

Cameron Morris hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
