Doctor Who: Every Dalek Story In The New Series Ranked WORST To BEST

11. Victory of the Daleks (2010)

The Daleks
BBC Studios

Let’s preface this entry by saying that the Paradigm Daleks were not that bad of a design choice.

Yes, they do look like technicolour Power Rangers, but their new hulking forms mean that they tower over the scenery and help them pose a far greater threat than before. The same praise cannot be given to Victory of the Daleks’ story, however.

This feels like a two-part adventure crammed into one episode. The Doctor lands in Winston Churchill’s Cabinet War Rooms only to discover that the Daleks are acting as his obedient servants. After the Doctor is tricked into confirming that they are Daleks, this activates the ‘Progenitor’ machine which creates the new Paradigm. The Doctor is then forced to let these new Daleks escape so that he can defuse a bomb they have planted inside one of Churchill’s staff.

This story is actually a pretty great concept, albeit one borrowed from the Second Doctor’s first story ‘The Power of the Daleks’ and could have really shone if the plot and new characters were given enough breathing room. It’s just a shame that it ends up being nothing more than a rushed mess.
