3. The Eleventh Doctor And River Song #4
This is the last of the four kisses between Eleven and River and it's easily the best one too.
Nearing the conclusion of the Series 7 finale, The Name Of The Doctor, the Eleventh Doctor prepares to step into his own time stream in order to save Clara. Knowing that this could be the death of him, a projection of River, that had been visible only to Clara beforehand, pleads with her husband not to do it. To her surprise he turns round and reveals that he could see her the whole time. And after sharing an emotional farewell, they kiss goodbye for the very last time.
It's a particularly sweet moment for the two, given the knowledge that it would be the last time this particular incarnation of the Doctor would see River. The chemistry built up over four years between Matt Smith and Alex Kingston really sells their relationship.
It is also a surprisingly very funny scene. Since River is only a projection, to everyone else there, The Doctor has just kissed thin air, leading to a hilarious reaction shot of Madame Vastra, Jenny and Drax.
