Appear in: Human Nature/The Family of Blood, Hell Bent.
These straw soldiers were the brainchild of Baines (technically Son of Mine, but the alliteration was too tempting). The stitched-on mouths, deeply sunken eyes, and the menacing manner in how they move is a chilling combination.
It's pretty distressing when the animated scarecrows ambush Mr Clark, young Lucy Cartwright, and the sweet-natured Jenny, and are a frightening force when they charge upon then smash down the school gates.
Oh, and they can also reanimate on command, because bullets don't exactly strike fatal blows against sinister straw creatures.
