There are occasions when the secondary villain, particularly in the James Bond films, overshadows the main antagonist. Here, Simon Pegg's Editor of Satellite Five comfortably upstages - by the entire length of the 500-floor space station - his big blob of a boss Max (the Jagrafess). Which isn't hard - and the simple fact he's the marvellous Simon Pegg.

Russell T Davies was very effusive in his praise to the cast for making the episode "much, much better than it is on the page", and it's a testament to Pegg's acting prowess that he manages to bring plenty of colour to his frosty character.

But most importantly, he was one-third of the way to completing the ultimate nerd hat-trick by starring in Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars.
